John Heald, Carnival Cruise Lines’ senior cruise director and brand ambassador, was named Best Cruise Blogger in USA Today’s inaugural Readers’ Choice New Media Awards.
The awards are based on on-line surveys that asked readers to vote for their favorite cruise blogger. Heald received more votes than any other nominee.
Launched in March 2007, Heald’s blog (www.johnhealdsblog.com) offers a “peek behind the crew door” with engaging and entertaining stories about the people he comes in contact with every day. Heald also answers reader questions covering a wide variety of topics. There’s also the annual Bloggers Cruise that attracts upwards of 1,000 of his readers who enjoy a number of exclusive on-board activities and events, all hosted by Heald.
Heald’s blog is supported by his widely popular Facebook page (www.facebook.com/johnheald). which currently has nearly 60,000 fans.

While our little group was having a picture taken with John Heald on the Carnival Sunshine, Micky Arison jumped in to photo bomb us.

Carnival Vista is the name selected by Carnival Cruise Lines for its new 135,000-ton ship scheduled to enter service in 2016.
The announcement was made today by Carnival President and CEO Gerry Cahill during a media briefing aboard Carnival Sunshine which is in the midst of its inaugural European season.
To be built by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, the 4,000-passenger Carnival Vista will be the 25th vessel in the line’s “Fun Ship” fleet.
Carnival Vista will offer a wide variety of dining, bar and entertainment options that are part of the line’s groundbreaking Fun Ship 2.0 product enhancement initiative, along with a number of innovations unique to this vessel.
Additional design details regarding Carnival Vista, as well as homeport deployment and itinerary information, will be announced at a later date.
